In the early 1800s, John and Lucy Bell moved into Robertson County, Tennessee, and bought a large log home near Adams, four miles from the Kentucky border. During the first appearance of “the Spirit,” John bell and his daughter Elizabeth, were so abused by this thing, that after four years, John Bell died. Although sometimes corporally punished for things the Spirit deemed necessary, none of the other family members were subjected to the Spirit’s violence; in fact, it never bothered Mrs. Lucy Bell and the older son, John Jr. . People from all over the world came to visit the Bell home and every one of them, including Andrew Jackson, saw demonstrations of the Spirit. Whatever it was, the thing existed. This volume combines two books, The Bell Witch of Tennessee by Charles Bell, and The Bell Witch of Middle Tennessee by Harriet Parks Miller.
